JAWZJAN: First woman district chief appointed

JAWZJAN - A woman, Saira Shekib Sadat has been appointed for the first time as Faizabad district chief of Jawzjan province.

Her first aim is to change Faizabad district to be a safer district in Jawzjan province.

During the past 11 years, after the collapse of Taliban regime where women were deprived from any kind of civil and social activities including education, a lot of opportunities have been provided to the Afghan women.

Now Afghan women have seats in upper and lower houses. They have job opportunities in governmental organizations including afghan national army and police.

Currently, from 34 provinces of Afghanistan only the governor of Bamyan province is a woman and for the first time a women has been appointed as a mayor for Nili city in Daikundi province.

Women activists and some members of parliament have expressed their happiness over the appointment of the first woman district chief. They asked the government of Afghanistan to provide further work opportunities to the Afghan women.
