KABUL - First ever in its kind, a sanatorium for Afghan disabled persons was inaugurated in Herat.

The Deputy of Pir-e-Herat Foundation, Sana Mohsini, said that the sanatorium is located in Gazerga area of Herat City and funded by Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) with the cost of 98,000 Euros.

According to Ms. Mohsini, the well-constructed sanatorium would cover 50 disable people, most of them females.

According to statistics about 5,000 people with disabilities, 300 of them women, live in Herat province.
