A 16-kilometre road was opened officially in Lashkargah city, capital of Helmand province, yesterday. The Helmand City Mayor, Mohammad Fazal Safi, participated in the inauguration ceremony along with other officials.

“Several roads were paved by the Municipality of Helmand in several areas of Lashkargah city during the current year. All the roads are paved with high standards and good quality,” said the Helmand City Mayor, adding that about US$ 850,000 was allocated from the development budget of the Helmand Municipality for the road construction.

“We plan to pave and complete a total of 35 kilometres of road in several areas of Lashkargah city up to the end of the current year,” the Mayor informed.
