  • 22 Jun 2015 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) strongly condemns today’s attack on Parliament in Kabul. “The attack against Parliament, for which the Taliban have claimed responsibility, is a clear and deliberate affront to democracy in Afghanistan – An attack against the Afghan peoples’ democratically elected representatives," said Tadamichi Yamamoto, the Secretary-General's Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan.
  • 21 Jun 2015 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemns the killing of 16 civilians, mostly women and children, and the injuring of several others, when their minibus hit an improvised explosive device (IED) on Saturday in the southern province of Helmand. The victims were members of three families returning to their village, having fled violent clashes between Anti-Government Elements and Afghan National Security Forces earlier the same day.

"Once again, I am appalled to be speaking out following the killing of aid workers who are providing much needed assistance in Afghanistan,” said Mark Bowden, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the country.

  • 11 May 2015 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) strongly condemns yesterday's suicide attack against a civilian bus transporting employees of the Attorney General's Office in Kabul. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack that killed five prosecutors, including three women prosecutors and injured 19 other civilians.
