KABUL - As Afghans prepare to mark the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, UN envoy Nicholas Haysom wishes all Afghans a peaceful and joyous celebration.

“Eid-ul-Adha is a time of peace, which Afghanistan richly deserves,” said Mr. Haysom, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative and head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). “The United Nations remains a committed partner and supporter of Afghans in their efforts to achieve stability, prosperity and a lasting peace.”

On behalf of the UN family in Afghanistan, Mr. Haysom expresses the hope all Afghans will be able to celebrate the occasion free from violence and surrounded by family and friends.
