ASHGABAT - Afghanistan’s neighbours have an important role to play in stabilizing the country, said Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General Nicholas Haysom. He was speaking last week in Ashgabat at the second senior officials preparatory meeting for the 14 June Kabul Ministerial Conference.

“The meeting is the best manifestation of regional cooperation on Afghanistan,” said Mr. Haysom. “Our common challenge is to take all possible measures to strengthen confidence in the ‘Heart of Asia’ region.”

The meeting was attended by senior officials from countries and states participating in the Istanbul Process.
