On Monday, in a roadside mine explosion, the Deh Yak district chief of Ghazni province escaped unhurt but two of his bodyguards were injured, said an official.

Haji Fazal Ahmad, who is also the provincial peace council director, survived the blast that happened in Kalajoz area of Ghazni city, the official’s vehicle was damaged, the governor's spokesman, Sabawoon said.

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen tried to kill a local elder, who contested the last parliamentary election, in Aab Band district of the same province.
Sharifullah, a former jihadi commander, suffered injuries and his guest killed during the attempted murder.

The attacker was in a private security uniform, said Sabawoon.

Two women were killed when a mortar shell fired by the Taliban hit a house in the Gilan district of Ghazni province, said an official on Monday.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sabawoon, said the overnight incident happened during a clash between security forces and the Taliban militants, no security personnel were injured during the fight and operations to flush out militants were still in progress.
