PAKTYA: ‘40 per cent of schools operate without buildings’

PAKTYA - With almost 40 per cent of schools across Paktya province having no proper buildings, hundreds of school students are still studying under tents, trees shade and unhealthy learning environment, residents complained yesterday.

Eng Mihrabuddin Shafaq, the director of the Provincial Education Department, acknowledged that many schools operate without buildings. However, 130 buildings have been constructed recently and construction work for 18 school buildings is underway.

There are a total of 288 schools in Paktya province for 160,000 students, with 40,000 of them being girls.
