KANDAHAR - Kandahar governor urged the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to focus on long-term sustainable projects in Kandahar. He also urged the organization to spend their budget in coordination with the local government and together with the government, prioritize the rehabilitation and construction of dams in the province, especially the four dams in bordering districts of Kandahar.

Capacity building for youth and women on agriculture was another issue raised during the governor’s meeting with the regional head of FAO, Gul Mohammad.

In response to the demand, Gul Mohammad informed the Governor that FAO has implemented several projects in the last few years in Kandahar. He added that all their activities will be in-line with the local authority’s policy guideline, as illustrated in their terms of reference.
