BALKH: Nearly 2,000 TB cases registered

BALKH - A total of 1,770 cases of tuberculosis have been registered in the last one year in northern Balkh province, the Chief of Provincial Public Health Department, Dr. Mirwais Rabbi, said on Saturday.

Unemployment, stress, physical pressures, and family violence are known to be the main causes of the deadly disease in Afghanistan.

Figures indicated that the number of women with positive tuberculosis last year was higher than the year before.

According to Dr. Rabbi, Balkh public health institutions offer free treatment of tuberculosis.
