  • 03 Aug 2018 - KABUL - The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemns today’s suicide attack that took place at a mosque in Gardez, killing at least 23 civilians and injuring at least 74 others. During Friday prayers, two suicide attackers detonated their explosive vests inside the Shia mosque. As there were civilian houses near the mosque, women and children were among the scores of civilian casualties.
  • 02 Aug 2018 - NEW YORK - The Secretary-General condemns the 31 July suicide attack targeting the provincial government’s department of refugees and returnees in Jalalabad City, killing at least 15 civilians, including a staff member of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Any attack deliberately targeting civilians is unjustifiable and in clear violation of international law.
