  • 05 Sep 2011 - KABUL - On 11 April, a bus carrying a group of deminers on their way to go to work in Kandahar province’s Daman district was struck by a roadside bomb. Five of the deminers were killed, and 16 injured, according to the Demining Agency for Afghanistan, which employs the deminers.

  • 05 Sep 2011 - KABUL - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Staffan de Mistura, in a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai today, agreed to recommend the commencement of technical and logistical assistance by the international community for parliamentary elections to be held on 18 September 2010.
  • 05 Sep 2011 - KABUL - A report issued by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Radhika Coomaraswamy, at the end of her mission to Afghanistan in February this year, states that the Afghan Government has made important commitments to reduce the impact of the armed conflict on Afghan children.
