  • 11 Jul 2014 - KABUL - At a meeting convened by the President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, yesterday, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) presented its proposal for an additional audit which aims to strengthen the credibility of the country’s electoral process and acceptance of the results from the recent Presidential election run-off by both campaigns and all Afghans.
  • 08 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemns the killing of at least twelve civilians, included ten children, in a suicide attack in the central province of Parwan today. The attack also seriously injured six children, a woman and a man, and killed four members of the international military forces and two Afghan policemen.
  • 08 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) notes yesterday’s announcement of the preliminary results for the country’s 2014 Presidential election run-off. The Mission further notes that the results are not final and are subject to change, and that it would be premature for either of the candidates to claim victory.
  • 03 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) welcomes the decision of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to launch an additional, ongoing audit of a number of polling stations in the second round of the Presidential election in which the total number of ballots cast was 599 or higher.
