19 June 1998 - The present report is submitted pursuant to paragraph 19 of General Assembly resolution 52/211 B of 19 December 1997, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it every three months during its fifty-second session on the progress of the United Nations Special Mission to Afghanistan (UNSMA). The report, which covers developments since the report of the Secretary-General of 17 March 1998 (A/52/826-S/1998/222), is also submitted in response to requests by the Security Council for regular information on developments in Afghanistan.
