KUNDUZ - Deputy UN Special Envoy for Afghanistan Nicholas Haysom visited Kunduz where he engaged the Governor, Mohammad Anwar Jegdalak, and well other groups on political and security concerns in that province.
KABUL - Over 800 artifacts looted from the National Museum were returned to their home Kabul yesterday, courtesy of the British Museum. For the most part the artifacts were looted during Afghanistan's civil war period and sold on black markets.
PAKTYA - Over 100 youths from ten districts of the Paktika province attended an anti-drug seminar in Sharan, the center of Paktika province.
KANDAHAR - A high level delegation led by Kandahar Deputy Governor, met with the district officials during their visit to Maiwand District.
PAKTYA - 25 vulnerable women received fruit and vegetable processing training in Ghazni province, said local officials. A project supported by the USAID Agriculture Development Team (ADT) gave lessons to illeterate women.
KANDAHAR - NDS officials claim to have detained 10 insurgents in Kandahar city and Zhary districts. The NDS department in Zhary launched a covert operation against an insurgent group related to insurgent’s Commander, Ahmadullah, and detained nine of his group members.
