NANGARHAR: Mediation by tribal affairs department ends dispute between sub-tribes

NANGARHAR - A dispute between three sub-tribes has ended in Haska Mina district following mediation by the provincial Department of Tribal Affairs and elders.

According to Wajiurahman, the Department head, a special jirga (‘a gathering of elders’) was organized at his department to end the dispute between Hamza Khil, Elyas Khil and Hasan Khil sub-tribes of Mandozai tribe of Shinwar.

Representatives of the sub-tribes pledged to end the dispute and to live in harmony with others “as brothers.”

Speaking at the end of the iirga, the elders raised their problems and asked the international community and the government to set up some construction projects in their district.

The most needed projects they have demanded include surrounding walls and buildings for schools and establishment of a medical clinic. They have also asked for teachers for some schools, as they lack adequate number of teachers.
