KUNDUZ: Economic growth up by 30 per cent

KUNDUZ - Kunduz economic growth is reported to have increased by thirty per cent during the past year.

An increase in the number of manufacturing firms in Kunduz has provided a significant boost in employment for the people of the province.

Economic institutions in Kunduz said that there had been improvements in economic growth during the past year.

The Deputy Director of the Kunduz Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Haji Abdul Rasool Amiri, noted that people had made investments in different areas that spurred the growth. “Economic growth increased at a 30 per cent pace over the past year,” he said.

Head of a construction company, Engineer Abdul Hay, said, “Growth opportunities are improving the climate for improvement in business activities.”

Currently, more than 40 factories are actively operating in the north-eastern Afghan province of Kunduz. According to provincial officials, some 10,000 locals will be able to work in the private business sectors of these factories in the near future.
