KHOST: Social movement against harmful traditions kicks off

KHOST - The Wekh Afghan, a local social reforms movement, started a campaign on Sunday against harmful customs and traditions in Khost province.

The campaign started with a gathering attended by tribal elders, religious scholars, youth, civil society organizations and members of the movement.

A representative of the movement, Dr. Khushal Rohi, said such harmful traditions and practices at social and Government levels had been impacting the Afghan society negatively.

Dr. Rohi called on the participants to identify dangerous traditions of the society and Government departments in Khost province and the Wekh Afghan movement would jointly work with the people and civil society organizations to eliminate them.

Representatives of various social organizations and tribal elders classified harmful traditions and recommended different solutions for its elimination.
