KHOST: Dispute resolution workshop organized

KHOST - A six-day workshop on community based dispute resolution was organized by Tribes Liaison Office, a civil society organization in Khost province, last week.

The workshop to focus on ways to resolve disputes relating to improve judgment capacity and decision making power of the community elders while resolving disputes at local level.

A tribal elder and ex-governor, Mohammad Rasol Tani, said that they learned ways out of their day-to-day problems at the regional level.

While speaking about the significance of the workshop, a member of a local women council, Zainab, said the participants were taught about their rights in Islam, adhering to the principles of the Sharia law. “I believe I can resolve all our problems; our rights have been ensured in our religion but the law is not properly practiced,” she said.

The workshop was attended by about 40 participants, including traditional actors, members of local councils and civil society organizations, tribal elders and religious scholars.
