KANDAHAR: Journalists discuss problems

KANDAHAR - Kandahar-based journalists met yesterday to discuss the pertaining problems faced by them during their work. One of the key concerns was problems faced by women journalists.

Organized by the Independent Media, the meeting was attended by several media correspondents, including the head of the Kandahar Press Club.

The participants discussed the problems faced by female journalists in the course carrying out their duties, namely, intimidation, low salaries and prejudice at work place.

“We face scores of challenges during our job. We face intimidation, get less salaries and fewer benefits,” complained one of the female journalists.

They urged the Kandahar Press Club to pay attention to these problems and find a solution for them.

At the meeting, most of the journalists complained that local security forces and officials didn’t cooperate with them.
