KABUL, 18 September 2014 – With the results of its presidential election due to be announced within days but with no political agreement on a government of political unity in place, the top United Nations official in Afghanistan today briefed the world body’s Security Council on the country’s progress and challenges – both immediate and longer-term – and the important role to be played by a new administration.
