The United Nations condemns in the strongest possible terms terrorism in all its forms, regardless of its purpose and wherever it is committed.

  • 13 Apr 2011 - NEW YORK - I condemn in the strongest terms the outrageous and cowardly attack against the United Nations office in Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan. Our reports are still preliminary, but it appears that three United Nations international staff as well as four international security officers were killed in the attack. My Special Representative, Staffan de Mistura, has travelled to Mazar-e-Sharif and is personally overseeing the investigation.
  • 13 Apr 2011 - KABUL - "We can confirm that the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) operations centre in Mazar-e-Sharif, in northern Afghanistan has been attacked today following a demonstration. We can also confirm that there have been United Nations personnel deaths. The situation is still confusing and we are currently working to ascertain all the facts and take care of all our staff.
