  • 08 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemns the killing of at least twelve civilians, included ten children, in a suicide attack in the central province of Parwan today. The attack also seriously injured six children, a woman and a man, and killed four members of the international military forces and two Afghan policemen.
  • 08 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) notes yesterday’s announcement of the preliminary results for the country’s 2014 Presidential election run-off. The Mission further notes that the results are not final and are subject to change, and that it would be premature for either of the candidates to claim victory.
  • 03 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) welcomes the decision of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to launch an additional, ongoing audit of a number of polling stations in the second round of the Presidential election in which the total number of ballots cast was 599 or higher.
  • 02 Jul 2014 - KABUL - Afghanistan’s two Presidential candidates – Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, along with their Vice-Presidential running mates and other leading members of their teams – separately met with Ambassadors and other high-level representatives of the international community in Kabul on Tuesday, 1 July 2014. The gatherings were facilitated by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
  • 28 Jun 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ján Kubiš, today met the Chairman of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), Ahmed Yusuf Nuristani, and briefed him on the Security Council meeting on Afghanistan held earlier this week and its subsequent presidential statement on the country’s elections.
