  • UNAMA condemns suicide attack in Parwan province
    08 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemns the killing of at least twelve civilians, included ten children, in a suicide attack in the central province of Parwan today. The attack also seriously injured six children, a woman and a man, and killed four members of the international military forces and two Afghan policemen.

    08 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) notes yesterday’s announcement of the preliminary results for the country’s 2014 Presidential election run-off. The Mission further notes that the results are not final and are subject to change, and that it would be premature for either of the candidates to claim victory.
  • UNAMA welcomes additional audit of polling stations in Afghan Presidential election
    03 Jul 2014 - KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) welcomes the decision of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to launch an additional, ongoing audit of a number of polling stations in the second round of the Presidential election in which the total number of ballots cast was 599 or higher.

    02 Jul 2014 - KABUL - Afghanistan’s two Presidential candidates – Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, along with their Vice-Presidential running mates and other leading members of their teams – separately met with Ambassadors and other high-level representatives of the international community in Kabul on Tuesday, 1 July 2014. The gatherings were facilitated by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
