  • 04 Oct 2015 - NEW YORK - The Secretary-General strongly condemned the air strikes in Kunduz that resulted in the death and injury of medical workers and patients at a Médecins Sans Frontières hospital on 3 October. In a statement, the Secretary-General recalled that hospitals and medical personnel are explicitly protected under international humanitarian law, and called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the attack in order to ensure accountability.

On 27 September, a suicide attacker detonated an improvised explosive device during a volleyball game, killing at least 17 civilians, including 15 children and injuring at least 60 others, the majority children.
