13,000 high school graduates to attend university entrance exam

BALKH - A total of 13,000 high school graduates will attend the solar year of 1392 university entrance exams on Thursday in Balkh province, said Balkh State University officials.

Only 2,500 will have the opportunity of admission in the Balkh State University due to limited capacity, while the rest can attend private colleges where they will have to pay an annual tuition of over a thousand dollars.

Currently there are 7,000 students attending classes in 14 faculties in Balkh State University. Two of the faculties are newly opened this year that has created space for nearly 1,000 students.

Meanwhile, 1,200 students are attending the night-shift classes in the state university.

In the last few years, exam attendees were complaining about some technical error in the method of exam that caused unexpected failure of even very bright students who could secure very high marks, but still failed. A ministry of higher education official said that improvements have been brought in the method of exams this year to prevent the technical error.
