Kunar Provincial Council gets first public information centre

KUNAR - The Eastern Regional Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) donated electronic equipment and furniture to a newly established public information centre at the Kunar Provincial Council (PC).

Council Chair Haji Mia Hasan Adil and UNAMA Head of the regional office, Nahid Abuakar, jointly opened the centre, which will serve as the venue of information-sharing and training for local officials and journalists, among others.

Thanking UNAMA for the support, Haji Adil said that he considers it as a very useful action for the improvement of their work, and looks forward to future support from the organization. UNAMA’s Abuakar replied, “I see positive improvement in the work of Provincial Council Kunar, and hope that this centre will help them in further improvement.”
“The same support was extended to the Provincial Council Nangarhar and will also be extended to Laghman province,” added Ms Abuakar.
Suhaila Babur, one of two female members of the Kunar Provincial Council said this centre will play a vital role in building their capacity.
Haji Sultan Sediqi, Secretary to the Provincial Council Kunar said the new centre will help “immensely” in continuing publication of the Council’s monthly magazine, De Woles Ghag (Voice of the People).
