Briefing by Special Representative Ján Kubiš to the Security Council
25 June 2014 – At a meeting of the United Nations Security Council today, the world body’s top envoy in Afghanistan, Ján Kubiš, said that addressing the political impasse in the wake of the country’s recent Presidential run-off elections will be vital for its unity and stability and that the onus for dealing with the situation lies with Afghans themselves.

Report of the Secretary-General: The situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security
18 June 2014 – The present report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 68/11and Security Council resolution 2145 (2014), by which Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was requested to report every three months on developments in Afghanistan. The report provides an update on the activities of the United Nations in Afghanistan, including significant humanitarian, development and human rights efforts, since his previous report was issued on 7 March 2014 (A/68/789-S/2014/163). It also provides a summary of key political and security developments and regional and international events related to Afghanistan. Full Report

Briefing by Special Representative Ján Kubiš to the Security Council
17 March 2014 - The top United Nations official in Afghanistan today told a meeting of the Security Council in New York that the country's Presidential and Provincial Council elections next month should not be a ‘winner takes all’ contest and the candidates should understand that not being the winner is not prima facie evidence of fraud.

Report of the Secretary-General: The situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security
7 March 2014 – The present report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 68/11 and Security Council resolution 2096 (2013), in which the Council requested the Secretary-General to report on developments in Afghanistan every three months. The report provides an update on the activities of the United Nations in Afghanistan, including significant humanitarian, development and human rights efforts, since the issuance of the Secretary-General’s previous report, of 6 December 2013 (A/68/645-S/2013/721). It also provides a summary of key political and security developments and regional and international events related to Afghanistan. The annex contains an assessment of progress made towards benchmarks and indicators since the issuance of my report of 5 March 2013 (A/67/778-S/2013/133), in line with Security Council resolution 1868 (2009).
