URUZGAN: 30 female police officers perform duties

KANDAHAR - The spokesman for Uruzgan police chief office, Mr. Farid Ayal, said that around 30 female police officers had assumed their duties in Uruzgan province recently.

“We didn’t have female police officers in the past which created scores of problems. But now we have around 30 female police officers which have brought positive changes in the security situation,” Ayal said.

The female police officers will play an effective role during search operation of houses and particularly during search of women, he added.

Uruzgan is one of the important provinces in the country which has a strategic location and mainly a mountainous area.

“We are happy with the formation of female police and it should have been done long ago. They will play a critical role in house search and search of women,” said Mohammad Dawood and Alam Gul, local residents of Uruzgan.

A local police commander in Dehrawad said that previously they were facing problems during house searches. But now, with female police officers, they are able to send them to search the women.
