URUZGAN: 18 insurgents join peace process

KANDAHAR - An 18-member group of insurgents joined the peace and reconciliation process in Uruzgan province today.

The insurgents joined the process due to tireless efforts by the local authorities, which resulted in tremendous pressure on the insurgents in recent months.

The insurgents have laid down their weapons and have returned to normal life in Khas Uruzgan district.

The mentioned group, led by Mullah Obaidullah, was carrying out activities in various parts of Uruzgan, Helmand and Kandahar provinces.

“We will live our normal life with our children, accept the Afghanistan Constitution and work for the rebuilding of our country”, said Mullah Obaidullah.

He requested for reconstruction projects, health facilities and progress in Education in his area.

The Uruzgan Deputy Governor, Haji Khudai Rahim, welcomed the decision of the insurgents to join the peace process and asked them to start a normal life. He called upon other insurgents, to come to the peace process.
