JALALABAD - Construction of a second Kabul-Jalalabad road, which started 18 months ago and stalled recently, will resume from Dusaraka area of Surkhrod district of Nangarhar province in January 2013, according to the Provincial Transportation Department.

The Transportation Department recently held meetings with governors and elders from Surkhrod, Hisarak and Shirzad districts to garner support in ensuring security in order to implement the three-year project smoothly.

According to the plan, the company that will carry out the construction work should resume the 3-year project in January 2013. Funded by the Asian Development Bank, the project had stalled due to “some reasons” after completing about 40 per cent of the work.
