LAGHMAN: Construction of WFP-supported construction walls completed

LAGHMAN - Construction of two protection walls on Alishang river in Miakhan Kas and Diziarat areas of Laghman Province has been completed at a total cost of US$ 240,000 provided by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

Of the total amount, US$ 90,000 was spent for Diziarat area and the rest for Miakhan Kas. Each wall is 200-metre long, 2-metre wide and 5-metre tall.

The Provincial Governor of Laghman, Fazlullah Mujadidi, formally inaugurated the walls today.

Amir Khan, a local elder, said that these walls would protect tens of residential houses and a large swathe of agricultural land.
