HELMAND: About 250 police officers graduate

HELMAND - Nearly 250 police officers graduated from the Helmand Police Training Center on Sunday.

The 244 trainees included members of the Afghan National Police, the Afghan Public Protection Force (APPF) and the Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP). The APPF mainly works for the protection of the people, their properties and state-run enterprise, among others, while the ANCOP personnel usually are present in major cities and respond to public unrest, terror activities and other similar events.

Helmand’s provincial chief of police, Brigadier General Mohammad Hakim Angar, told the graduation ceremony that the members of the police force were “more professional” than before.

He asked the police to carry out their duties as servants of the civilians, who in return would help the police.

The commander of the Training Center, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Hamid Zafarkhail, said the police personnel were trained for two months on artillery, behavior with the people, human rights, health aid and education.

“The training is now therefore effective. All the trainers are Afghans and the problem that we had before with foreign trainers about language and translation is completely solved,” he added.
