BALKH: Water supply project starts in Samangan

BALKH - A two-phased water supply project to provide clean potable water for Aybak City started in Samangan.

Costing Nine million US dollars, the first phase of the project will extend pipeline that supplies high quality water from Charasyab spring in Khuram Sarbagh district to provincial capital, Aybak and nearby villages.

Provincial Water Supply Department’s Chief Engineer, Ramin Mehri said it is going to be a 37 kilometers underground pipeline, 45 centimeters in diameter with capability of 207 liters per second.

Starting soon, the second phase is a three million US dollars project, extending pipelines inside the city for over 50,000 people as well as nearly 7,000 people in the villages along the pipeline.

The total 12 million US dollar cost of the above projects is being paid by the Afghan government.
