Secretary-General’s new report on Afghanistan released

NEW YORK - The latest report on Afghanistan by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has been released in New York.

Mr. Ban’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ján Kubiš, is scheduled to present the report – The situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security – to the Security Council on 17 March.

The UN chief's latest report provides an update on the activities of the UN in Afghanistan, including significant humanitarian, development and human rights efforts, since the issuance of his previous report last December. The latest report also provides a summary of key political and security developments, as well as regional and international events, related to Afghanistan.
