KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) is saddened to learn of the death today of the First Vice-President of Afghanistan, Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim – a good and trusted partner of the UN.

“The UN family joins the Government and people of Afghanistan in mourning the loss of Marshal Fahim,” said the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of UNAMA, Ján Kubiš.

The Mission extends its deepest condolences to the family of the late Vice-President.
