UNAMA condemns suicide attack in Kabul city

KABUL UNAMA condemns in the strongest terms yesterday’s suicide attack in the Macorayan area of Kabul city that killed 12 and injured at least 88 others, including 13 children and 21 women.

The attack was carried out on a crowded street, during rush hour and in front of a private hospital causing extensive damage to homes and property. It targeted a convoy from the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission, killing three contractors.

“Once again, Anti-Government Elements conducted a suicide attack using a car full of explosives in a crowded area of Kabul with complete disregard for the lives of Afghan civilians,” said Tadamichi Yamamoto, the Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan.

The Mission extends its condolences to the families of those killed and a speedy recovery for those injured, and UNAMA affirms its continued support to the people of Afghanistan.
