UNAMA condemns killing of foreign journalist in Kabul

KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemns the killing of a Swedish-British journalist in the capital, Kabul, today.

The victim was shot in broad daylight while walking in the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan diplomatic area.

“I am deeply concerned about civilians, be they Afghans or foreigners, being victims of targeted violence against them – moreover, this time the target was a media worker,” said the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of UNAMA, Ján Kubiš. “I urge the authorities to do all in their power to bring those responsible to justice.”

The Mission extends its condolences to the family of the victim.
