KABUL - The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon will join President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani and EU President Donald Tusk to open the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan tomorrow.

The conference will provide a platform for the Government of Afghanistan to set out its vision and track record on reform.

For the international community, the gathering will be the opportunity to signal sustained political and financial support to Afghan peace, state-building and development.

Meanwhile, an event entitled 'Empowered women, prosperous Afghanistan' will take place today in the margins of the conference.

President Ghani will open this event,  which will provide a platform for the Afghan Government to outline policy progress and plans on the protection and empowerment of women.

It will include two panels, one focusing on the political and human rights of Afghan women and the other on their socio-economic situation.
