UN, partners discuss NPPs

KUNDUZ - Government officials in northeastern Kunduz province stressed the importance of close cooperation among various Government departments and international organizations while implementing the National Priority Programmes (NPPs).

Speaking at a meeting between provincial Government departments and international organizations active in the province earlier this week, the officials also said the needs of the local population should be prioritized while implementing NPPs.

“NPPs require close coordination and cooperation among the line governmental departments and international organizations,” Asadullah Adil, the head of the Kunduz Department of Economy, told the meeting organized by UNAMA.

While emphasizing on capacity building of the Government departments, Mohammad Zahir Nazm, the head of the Kunduz Education Department, said, “The implementation of the NPPs is effective when we have the capacity for its implementation and prioritize the needs of the local population.”

Nadera Geyah, the head of Kunduz Department of Women’s Affairs, called the NPPs implementing agencies to consider the role of women in all programmes.
