KABUL - The United Nations in Afghanistan congratulates all Afghans on the occasion of Nowruz.

“Nowruz is one of the most cherished traditional celebrations in Afghanistan and the region, a time for new beginnings, for getting together with friends and relatives and a time to realise dreams and reach new goals,” said Ján Kubiš, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan.

As 1391 and Spring begin we hope that this year will unite us all in renewing our efforts to work for a prosperous, peaceful and stable Afghanistan.

During these celebrations let us also remember those who are suffering and those who are vulnerable and need help and support.

Through our new mandate, to be shortly adopted at the UN Security Council, UNAMA remains committed to working with the people, the Government of Afghanistan and our international partners to build a better future for all Afghans.
