Top national wheelchair basketball team plays a Peace Day match in Faryab

FARYAB - The Faryab wheelchair basketball players, the reigning national champions in Afghanistan, demonstrated the team’s skills on the court at the Maimana Public Hospital in a friendly match to mark Peace Day.

The game, held at the IAM Orthopedic Workshop and Physiotherapy Center, was organized by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) with support from non-governmental organization International Assistance Mission (IAM) and the Faryab Wheelchair Basketball Team.

UNAMA opened the game with an introduction of the United Nations and International Peace Day, and provided Peace Day caps and T-shirts for the participating players.

The team is supported by the IAM Orthopedic Workshop and Physiotherapy Center at Maimana Public Hospital, and received basketball-specific wheelchairs with support of the Afghanistan Wheelchair Basketball Project.
