KABUL - This morning there have been coordinated insurgent attacks in several locations of Kabul city.

While details remain unclear early reports indicate the involvement of numerous suicide bombers attacking Government buildings close to the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Justice.

We are aware that the Taliban have claimed responsibility for this attack.

We condemn this attack unreservedly.

It is of particular concern that this took place in an area with so many civilians present.

We are in monitoring the situation closely while Afghan and international forces attend the scene to bring these attacks to an end.
