PAKTYA: Rate of child deaths decreases in south-eastern provinces

PAKTYA - The percentage of child deaths in Paktya, Khost and Paktika provinces has decreased compared to previous years, an official said on Monday.

In the Afghan year of 1391, there were 29 deaths and 79 cases of children being wounded, while in 1990, there were 32 deaths and 166 cases of children being wounded, with most of the casualties caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), said Abdul Hakim Nasiri, an official with the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC).
