KABUL - Following the UN Security Council’s visit to Afghanistan, the Council will discuss Afghanistan in the framework of the maintenance of international peace and security and as part of a broader debate on building regional partnerships in Afghanistan and Central Asia as a model for the security-development nexus.

The debate, which will open with a briefing by the UN Secretary-General, is scheduled to commence 10:00 New York local time (19:30 Kabul local time), 19 January. It will be webcast live on UN WEB TV, and will be available as a downloadable video clip a few hours after the meeting.
