KUNDUZ: UNAMA welcomes New Year with Kunduz children

KUNDUZ - The UNAMA office in Kunduz held an “End of Year” celebration party for children on Monday. Over 120 children of all ages gathered at the UNAMA compound to welcome the year of 2013 and played football, flew kites, viewed educational cartoons, and received gifts provided by the mission.

“I like soccer and kite flying, I enjoyed playing with my friends,” said Shaheer Jan, a seven-year-old boy.

Abubakar an eighth-grade student in Afghan –Turk school expressed his joy and enjoyed the entertainments he and her friends had during the gathering.

“I am very happy, we want to be happy and we want peace,” said Abubakar.

A ten-year-old girl, Sharifa said that she enjoyed the movies and other children’s companion at the party.

“I am very happy to be with other the children and thanks for the gift,” she cheerfully told UNAMA.

The event was part of UNAMA Kunduz welfare activities and the first initiative from the office.
