KUNDUZ: UNAMA trains local journalists on photography skills

KUNDUZ - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) trained a group of thirteen local journalists belonging to different media organizations in Kunduz on the skills of photography.

During the three and half day workshop, the participants learned the skills of photography in theory and practice.

UNAMA photographer, Eric Kanalstein who was the trainer of the expressed his satisfaction over the achievements of the participants during the workshop and said: “I watched your developed and growing photography skills through your taken photos during the course.”

“Keep creativity not only in photography, but in working with TV and radio,” said Mr. Kanalstein.

Hamidullah Balouch, a participant and the Public Outreach Officer for Independent Elections Commission in Kunduz said that the workshop enabled them to be closer to professionalism and take standard photos.

A female participant, Ms. Behishta Yousufzai expressed similar thoughts: “As female journalists we did not have courage to take photos from the city and people, but during the course practical assignments, I took nice photos from the city and I am sure with skills I learned I can do better.”

This was the fourth photo journalism workshop in Kunduz. Earlier, similar workshops were held in Bamyan, Kandahar and Jalalabad.
