KUNDUZ - Six women poets from Badakhshan were given awards for their creativity in poetry and literature.

The awards were given away by the Chairperson of Women Affairs Commission in the Lower House of Afghan Parliament, Ms. Fawzia Kofi in a ceremony in Kabul.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister for Information and Culture, Deen Muhammad Mubarez Rashidi, renowned writer, Partaw Naderi and members of Afghan civil society.

Ms Kofi on the occasion said that the female poets have highlighted the issues of women in their poetic creations.

She requested to the Ministry of Information and Culture to allocate an annual prize under the title of “Mukhfi Badakhshi” to honor the Afghan female poets around the country.
