KANDAHAR: Zary elders call for peace

KANDAHAR - Hundreds of tribal elders and local representative of Zary district of Kandahar called upon insurgents to give up violence and join the peace process.

Speaking at a gathering organized by the Kandahar Provincial Peace Committee to mark the Peace Week campaign, 20-25 September, the local leaders stressed that all issues should be tackled with unity and that called upon insurgents to give up violence and return to normal lives by joining the peace process.

“The Government is ready to accommodate anyone who wishes to join the peace process,” said Haji Atha Mohammad, the head of the Kandahar Peace Committee.

Islam stresses for peace whenever there are conflicts amongst Muslims, he added.

It is worth mentioning that several meetings have been organized by honouring the martyrs and raising awareness on the importance of peace, as part of the peace week campaign in Kandahar.
