KANDAHAR: Upgraded international airport records 25% increase in revenue collection

KANDAHAR - The Kandahar International Airport has made 60 per cent progress in the last one year and the custom revenues have increased “significantly”, said Ahmadullah Faizi, the head of the Kandahar International Airport, on 19 November.

“In the last one year, the income from the custom revenues has increased by around 25 per cent,” said Mr. Faizi, while speaking to journalists at the Kandahar Governor Media Centre. “Moreover, with the help of the US Embassy and the international forces, several reconstruction projects have been implemented at the airport.”

He added that, with a total budget of 64 million Euros, three new X-Ray machines had been installed, traffic, communication and accounting system had been computerized, runways rehabilitated, taxi service started besides other added services to the passengers.

We have US$ 12 million for more projects which will be implemented in the near future to provide facilities to the passengers, he said.
