KANDAHAR: Capacity-building workshop for female journalists

KANDAHAR - A 15-day journalism workshop, for female journalists, started in Kandahar today. The workshop is organized by the provincial Information and Culture Department, which “aims to enhance the capacity of the female journalists.”

“Female journalists are currently faced with scores of challenges, however, due to some cultural barriers, they cannot share their problems with their male counterparts. We want to build their capacity in this field and also explore job opportunities for female journalists,” said the Department head, Dawa Khan Menapal.

The head of Kandahar Provincial Council, Haji Khakrezwal, noted that the workshop for female journalists is “a major step towards building the capacity of female journalists.”

Mr. Khakrezwal requested from female journalists to focus more on their professional skills and avoid targeting individuals.

“Despite security challenges, we are continuing to work as female journalists in order to raise the voice of other women in the society,” said one of the female participants of the workshop.
